If you ask any entrepreneur about what it takes to succeed, they will probably mention hard work and long hours. However, productivity is also key. Here are 5 tips for becoming a more productive entrepreneur:
Do What You Don’t Want To Do FIRST
As Mark Twain once said, “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.”
The task that you are dreading and that is going to take a long time — you should do this first. Get it out of the way and off your plate. You’ll feel so relieved after it’s complete and will be more energized for the rest of the day.
Break Up Larger Goals
Setting goals for yourself is great, but can also overwhelm you if it feels too unreachable. Break the large goal into smaller, achievable goals. Create action steps for each goal and celebrate milestones as you meet them along the way.
One Thing At A Time
Many of us with busy lives have been hard-wired to see multi-tasking as a good thing. The thought is that we’ll get more done this way.
But the truth is, multi-tasking drains energy and makes us more tired quickly. We end up jumping from task to task and then leaving them incomplete or riddled with mistakes. Focus on one job at a time and get rid of all other distractions.
Plan Tomorrow’s Schedule at the End of Today
Once your work day winds down, take a look at your to-do list and cross things off. Check your calendar for any appointments scheduled for the next day. Make a list of what you’ll work on tomorrow.
When tomorrow comes, you’ll be able to sit down and get right to work. You’ll feel more prepared and focused.
Create Checklists for Recurring Tasks
In your business, there will be certain tasks that you do over and over again. It would be beneficial to create a checklist or template for these tasks. This will save you and your team time and also ensure consistency in completing jobs.
