Mariah Shanice Basa: Writing with Soul from the Road

Mariah Shanice Basa, known simply as Shan, has always found clarity through words. Sheโ€™s not just a writer and communications specialist; sheโ€™s a deep listener and thoughtful observer, crafting stories that reflect the heart of mission-driven businesses and creatives. Whether itโ€™s website copy, content strategy, or storytelling campaigns for LinkedIn, Shanโ€™s work helps heart-led entrepreneurs find their voice and connect with the people theyโ€™re meant to serve.

โ€œI didnโ€™t feel particularly loud or bold in rooms,โ€ she says. โ€œBut I could hold space for ideas, emotion, and nuance on the page.โ€

Serving from the Margins, Not the Spotlight

A decade into her professional communications career, Shan knows what it means to hold space for others especially those who feel overwhelmed by the noise of modern marketing. Sheโ€™s carved out a unique path for herself by doing what comes naturally: listening deeply and distilling what matters most.

โ€œFor many people, especially introverted women like me, putting themselves out there is hard,โ€ she shares. โ€œSo I help them by doing what I do best, turning their truth into words that move people.โ€

The Power of Introverted Presence

Shan doesnโ€™t view introversion as a hurdle. Itโ€™s her quiet superpower. Her ability to notice, process, and hold space gives her clients a sense of calm and confidence. But she admits it hasnโ€™t always been easy.

โ€œIn a world that rewards being โ€˜onโ€™ all the time, Iโ€™ve had to learn how to promote my work in ways that align with my energy,โ€ she says. That learning curve has taught her to trust her natural rhythm and believe in the power of presence over performance.

Life on Her Own Terms

Shan has spent the past four years living and working remotely with her laptop and passport constant companions. Currently based in Medellรญn, Colombia, sheโ€™s soon headed back to the quiet of the mountains in Huaraz, Peru. Her dream life isnโ€™t about flashy milestones or viral content. Itโ€™s about slow mornings, meaningful work, sunlight, and staying true to herself.

โ€œIโ€™ve created a life where I can keep writing, keep growing, keep traveling,โ€ she says, โ€œbut most of all, keep showing up fully as myself, without having to wear a mask.โ€
