Before every meeting, each member completes a short form sharing what’s happening in her business and the decision she’s working through. I pull those into a Board Brief and send it to the group ahead of time. So when we meet, no one is put on the spot or starting from scratch. Everyone arrives having already thought about each other’s questions, ready for honest feedback and a real conversation.

It’s a room designed for experienced women who want to make better decisions, and who’d rather think things through carefully than talk just to fill the time.

Twice-Monthly Boardroom Sessions

Ninety-minute advisory meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm CT, with your Board Brief in hand before every session. Each meeting, a few members take a focused turn at the table while the rest of the board offers perspective, so every woman gets dedicated time on her decisions each month.

The Business Rewrite Assessment

A guided set of questions you’ll complete before your 1:1 session to look honestly at your business as it stands today: what’s working, what’s draining you, and what you want it to look like going forward. It gives us a clear starting point and helps you bring your most important decision to the table.

1:1 Strategy Session with Shayla

A private session during your first 30 days to look closely at where your business is now and where you want it to go. We’ll get clear on the decision that matters most this quarter so you come into the boardroom knowing what you want to work on.

Meet Shayla Burtin

I’m a Midlife Clarity Strategist and the founder of Rewritten by Her, a platform and community for women 40+ navigating what’s next in life, work, and who they’re becoming.

For the past several years, I’ve been creating spaces where women can have meaningful conversations, think differently about what’s possible, and connect with women who understand where they are. More than 5,000 women from 80+ countries have participated in the communities and experiences I’ve created.

Before Rewritten by Her, much of my work centered on entrepreneurship. I spent more than 20 years in operations, business management, and HR leadership, and I’ve worked with women as they built businesses, navigated growth, and decided what success looked like for them. What I’ve learned, from those women and from my own journey, is that the questions we ask about our businesses change as we do.

That’s why I’m bringing back Her Boardroom, the advisory room I first created for women entrepreneurs, now designed specifically for established founders 40+.

My role isn’t to sit at the front of the room with all the answers. It’s to bring the right women together, facilitate meaningful conversations, and ask the questions that help us think more clearly about what’s next.

Because sometimes you don’t need another expert telling you what to do. You need the right room to help you decide what you want to do next.

Questions you're probably asking

Why is there an application and vetting process?

Because the quality of this room depends on who’s in it. Every applicant is reviewed to make sure she’s the right fit for the room and the other women in it, not just for the offer. It protects your experience and means you’ll be surrounded by women who are equally serious, prepared, and ready to show up.

Do I need to have a large business or high revenue to join?

No. There’s no revenue minimum and no strict years-in-business cutoff. Her Boardroom is for women who are past the startup stage, with paying clients and real decisions about where the business goes next. If you’re not sure whether that’s you, apply and we’ll talk it through.

What happens during a typical boardroom session?

A few days before each meeting, you’ll complete a short form about what’s happening in your business. Then you’ll receive the Board Brief so you can come prepared. Each 90-minute session opens with a brief check-in. Then a few members take a focused turn at the table, sharing a decision while the board asks questions and offers perspective. We close with each woman naming her next step. Over the course of each month, every member gets dedicated time at the table.

What if I miss a meeting?

Life happens. If you miss a session, you’ll still receive the Board Brief and a summary of the key takeaways, and your turn at the table moves to the next meeting. Because the room works best when everyone is present, members commit to attending as many sessions as they can.

What happens after the first quarter?

The cycle closes with a final session where each member reflects on the decision she brought in and what comes next. Members are then invited to renew for the next cohort before seats open to new applicants.

Why is Her Boardroom specifically for women 40+?

Because the questions change. By 40, many women have built something that works, and now they’re asking whether it still fits the life they want. Most business programs assume the answer is always more growth. Her Boardroom makes room for every answer, whether that’s growing, simplifying, or redesigning, alongside women who understand this season because they’re in it too.
