Lianne Torres is Walking in Her Purpose

We are pleased to meet Lianne Torres from New Jersey. She is the host of Watch Us Thrive Podcast and has been in business for 1 year.

What does your dream life look like? Are you currently living your dream or still working on it?

I’m still working on my dream life, but I feel like I’m walking and living in my purpose right in this moment. My ultimate goal is to become the “Latina Dr. Phil” without the doctorate degree.

I want my own platform on TV and radio where I can bring people together to heal from the trauma that they’ve experienced.

I want a platform that lets people know they’re in a safe space where they won’t be judged or ridiculed or critiqued or overlooked because of what they’ve experienced in the past.

Tell us about what you do.

I am the Founder, CEO and podcast host of Watch Us Thrive, a personal development podcast where I talk about mental health, healing from trauma that keeps us stuck in toxic relationships & how we can reconnect with our inner magic.

My podcast is geared towards millennial women who have experienced different forms of trauma and are on their own personal development journeys.

My goal with my podcast is to have a global platform for people to tune in to week after week to hear stories of others who have experienced pain and have turned that into their power.

I’m focused on highlighting stories of shifting your trauma into triumph and letting the world to know that regardless of what you’ve gone through, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and there is a reason for everything that you’ve experienced.

You can be victorious and you can heal.

What inspired you to start your podcast?

I’m a domestic violence survivor and advocate. I started my podcast as a part of my personal development journey while healing from escaping (literally) that abusive relationship.

Originally, my podcast was an outlet for me to journal out my thoughts with my words and take my power back with my voice. It began as a place for me to talk out my thoughts and share my life experiences with the world.

It has since slowly grown into a beautiful platform where others are able to come on and share their own stories of turning their pain into power and going from victim or victor!

Where can we listen to your podcast?

My podcast is available to listen to on all major podcast streaming platforms, like Apple Podcasts and Spotify. I also have a YouTube channel where you can watch video episodes of my podcast, updated weekly.

What’s a challenge you’ve faced along your entrepreneurial journey?

I feel like I’m still overcoming the dreaded impostor syndrome and inner critic that we all experience, especially as new entrepreneurs.

There are many times when I feel like I might be wasting my time with my podcast. It’s a lot of work, especially as a one-woman show who wears all the hats that come with having a podcast, and there are moments where I feel like maybe this isn’t going anywhere.

But then, I receive feedback from my listeners and strangers on the Internet reach out to me and let me know that my podcast has helped them on their own healing journeys, or a specific episode really resonated with them and help them realize some things that they didn’t think of before and that makes everything worth it.

It’s a work in progress.

It’s an everyday battle that I’m navigating through, but each and every week, my confidence is building up with every episode that I release.

How has being an introvert affected your business?

I would say being a podcast host has boosted my confidence a lot and has helped me overcome fears that I have around public speaking and being seen.

I’m starting to entertain the idea of hosting an in-person event with a stage which is something that is so scary to me, but I know that with the growth of my brand, I need to step out of my comfort zone and do the scary things that will allow me to elevate to the next level.

What tactics do you use to bring in new listeners?

Social media is so necessary for new business owners.

It can be a gift and a curse, depending on how you utilize it, but showing up on socials, having an email newsletter list, owning your own website, creating QUALITY content and many other things are so important in order to grow your business and your brand.

You have to put yourself out there and you have to talk about what it is that you have going on if you want to attract new clients or listeners or subscribers or whatever it is that you’re looking for as an entrepreneur.

Is attending networking events a part of your marketing strategy?

Networking is so beneficial and has helped me so much not only in my own personal development journey, but also in my business journey.

I have met so many amazing men and women in person and online that have become a part of my social circle that have helped me grow and develop as a business woman because of attending in-person and online events.

How do you define success for yourself and your business?

Many people think success is only monetary and while that’s definitely a plus to have, I believe success means doing what lights you up inside and walking in your purpose.

Waking up every single day with a smile on your face and feeling excited that you’re alive to see another day, no matter what challenges you might experience from day to day, is what success looks like to me.

What advice would you give to other introverted women who are just starting their own businesses?

You have to show up consistently every single day in whatever capacity that looks like for you.

You have to talk about what it is that you have going on because people cannot read minds and no one will know what you have to offer if you don’t speak up about it.

I understand for introverts like us it can be difficult to put ourselves out there, to be seen and possibly judged, but you have to get over that fear if you want to be a successful business owner.

People are always going to talk, people are always going to have opinions, and people are always going to have something to criticize, but you shouldn’t allow that outside noise stop you from reaching your highest potential.

We all have a purpose in life, we all have a story to tell and the world needs to hear it.

And you have to be authentic. People can tell when someone is being genuine with their message and when it’s coming off fake. Always lead with vulnerability and authenticity.

That’s how you attract YOUR customers and clientele.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Where can our readers find more information about you?
