Emily Newport: Designing a Business That Feels Like Home

Emily Newport isnโ€™t just designing websites, sheโ€™s designing a life that finally feels like hers.

After years in admin roles that never quite felt fulfilling, Emily stumbled into the world of virtual assistance. It was a game-changer. โ€œI was a teenage mum and have always worked hard,โ€ she shares. โ€œBut I never felt like I was reaching my full potential.โ€ At first, she specialized in marketing support, but something felt off. The pace was fast, the trends overwhelming, and the Zoom calls exhausting.

โ€œAs an INFJ with ADHD, I burned out quickly,โ€ she says. โ€œI loved the creative side of marketing, especially the design but not the constant pressure to keep up.โ€

That realization led her to pivot her business. Today, Emily is transitioning from VA work into web design and branding, where she helps service providers stand out in the crowded online space with thoughtful, eye-catching visuals. Itโ€™s work that aligns with her strengths, her energy, and most importantly, her values.

But itโ€™s been a journey to get here especially as an introvert in a world that often celebrates the loudest voice in the room.

โ€œFor most of my life, I pushed against being introverted,โ€ Emily says. โ€œIโ€™d think, why am I not as outgoing as that person? Why do I struggle on Zoom calls to think on my feet? I honestly questioned whether I could succeed as an entrepreneur.โ€

People have always told me Iโ€™m thoughtful, strategic, and full of ideas but I never believed it.

It wasnโ€™t until recently, after reading Quiet by Susan Cain and committing to inner work, that things began to shift. โ€œIntroverts have so many strengths,โ€ she reflects. โ€œPeople have always told me Iโ€™m thoughtful, strategic, and full of ideas but I never believed it. Iโ€™m finally listening to myself.โ€

Emily now sees her introversion not as a weakness, but as a superpower. Itโ€™s what allows her to create deeply intentional work and build genuine connections, without pretending to be someone sheโ€™s not. Her advice to others? Start with how you talk to yourself.

โ€œWe say things in our heads weโ€™d never say to a stranger,โ€ she says. โ€œBut youโ€™re not weird. Youโ€™re not behind. You just need to start treating yourself with the same kindness youโ€™d offer anyone else.โ€

Emilyโ€™s not quite living her dream life but sheโ€™s close. โ€œI tell myself, โ€˜Youโ€™re living the life that past you would have been proud of.โ€™โ€ Her next chapter? A bit more freedom, the ability to book a spontaneous holiday, or treat her children without thinking twice. โ€œItโ€™s within reach,โ€ she says. โ€œI can feel it.โ€

And we believe her because Emily is building a future grounded in authenticity, self-trust, and quiet power.
