Say hello to Jessica Johnson from Spokane, Washington, USA. Her dream is to share her passion for holistic living with others, so they experience the healing and transformation that she did. She also wants to have a flexible schedule to enjoy time in nature with her family.
Jessica, tell us about the work you do and who you help.
I provide one-on-one coaching to busy working moms who are struggling with finding work-life balance. With my help, they have more energy, sleep better, look better and feel healthier. I work with them to create more fulfilling relationships in their family and create routines that bring them joy.
Also, I specialize in helping adoptive moms build stress resilience and feel equipped for the challenges of raising children with a history of trauma.
My inspiration for starting this business came from adopting a sibling group of three girls 11 years ago, going from zero to three children overnight. The adjustment of becoming a new parent, building attachment bonds with all 3 children at once, and dealing with trauma behaviors left my body in a state of constant stress.
My journey to find healing from a stress-related viral infection brought me to a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection. It also grew in me a passion for holistic living. I became a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and started my business “Root and Revive Wellness” with the goal to help other moms.
What is a challenge you’ve faced along your entrepreneurial journey?
I initially felt really intimidated by a lot of the tech knowledge required to grow my business. As I have persisted, watched videos and utilized help services online, I have become more comfortable and confident in my ability.
Do you think that being an introvert has affected your business?
I think being an introvert has made things like being on video take more time for me to warm up to, but I’ve not let things like this stop me from pursuing my dream.
What advice would you give to other introverted women just starting their own businesses?
Take steps to grow your business that may feel just outside your comfort zone. Do the hardest things first on your to-do list.
Thank you for taking the time to share your story.
