Her Dream

Meet Introverted Keynote Speaker, Whitney Jones

Say hello to Whitney Jones from Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Her dream is to make an impact by living a purposeful & free life. The ultimate quote she lives by is from Eleanor Roosevelt who said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

Whitney, tell us about the work you do and what inspired you to get started.

I’m the founder & CEO of the Raymond K. Jones Foundation, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization that provides support & resources to families impacted by gun violence.

After losing my father to gun violence at a young age, I found healing and purpose in forgiving the woman responsible for his death. I now work to help other families navigate the challenges of grief and loss.

How has being an introvert affected your life and business?

Being an introvert has allowed me to live a nice, quiet & content life. After starting my nonprofit, I then realized that being the voice of my organization has required me to break out my shell more times than I can count.

It’s had its advantages and disadvantages, but the more that I conquer the things that I fear has allowed me to grow more & more into the person that I’ve been called to be.

Can you share a significant lesson you have learned on your journey so far?

Being able to navigate through my fear of public speaking has allowed me to truly find my voice. I’ve always been the shy girl who prefers to make an impact behind the scenes, but as I get older I’m learning that my story & my voice are the two things that can make an impact on the world.

What advice would you give to other introverted women who are on a journey to build their dreams?

“Be afraid & do it anyway” is my biggest advice!

Don’t allow fear to stop you from pursuing your dreams because there’s someone out there who is depending on you to achieve them.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.
