Marilu Ciabattoni
Her Dream

Meet Introverted Social Media Specialist, Marilu Ciabattoni

Say hello to Marilu Ciabattoni from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her dream life involves exploring as much of the world as she can while bringing her entrepreneurial goals to life. She wants to find the perfect balance between work and play while never wanting to stop evolving and trying new things. Her motto is, “I’m just getting started.”

Tell us about the work you do and what inspired you to get started.

As an English Major at university, I had the opportunity to intern at different organizations. What I was doing was somehow related to marketing, so I decided to take the challenge on myself and see how far I would go as a self-taught, ambitious marketer.

I then decided to pivot toward Paid Ads & Social Media because I love to see how creative some companies get with their strategies.

Similarly, I love helping my clients be seen and I find it very stimulating to experiment with their content and strategy. I have helped many business owners gain visibility and I’m super proud of that!

How has being an introvert affected your life and your business?

Although many of my friends wouldn’t consider me an introvert, at the end of the day, all I want to do is to be alone. Engaging with others in real life–whether in my professional or personal life–gives me energy to some degree. Still, I have a limit on how many people I can interact with every day before the battery runs out.

At first, it was very difficult to promote or sell myself to others, but as I became more and more confident in my abilities, I definitely improved.

I know one thing for sure: I don’t want my career to suffer because of the louder people in the room. I might not be as loud but I can get myself heard.

What’s a significant lesson you have learned on your journey so far?

Go out there, do things, meet people. You never know who’s going to give you the opportunity that might change your life.

What advice would you give to other introverted women who are on a journey to build their dreams?

As hard as it sounds, you NEED to become more social and get out of your comfort zone. Always have your boundaries–for instance, I don’t drink and refuse to even at a networking event–but make sure to get your point across. Be direct if you need to.

You deserve to be heard and no one else will allow that to happen except for you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.
