Kezia Kecibas: Healing Through Holistic Therapy and Self-Acceptance

Meet Kezia Kecibas, a Holistic Therapist, author, and proud mother who has built a life and business rooted in resilience, passion, and self-discovery. As the founder of Kelebek Holistic Therapies, Kezia has created a sanctuary where she helps others heal, all while navigating her own journey with Multiple Sclerosis.

From Sales Director to Holistic Healing

Kezia never imagined sheโ€™d end up as a holistic therapist. At 21, she had dreams of traveling the world and even landed a well-paying job in sales, quickly climbing the ranks to Sales Director. But life had other plans. โ€œTo cut a long story short, I became a mum. This was a very unexpected surprise,โ€ she shared.

While looking for ways to balance work and motherhood, Kezia discovered a holistic therapy courseโ€”conveniently, one that offered free childcare. โ€œTravelling the world could wait,โ€ she joked. What started as a practical choice soon became a passion. From Swedish massage to reflexology, she fell in love with the healing power of touch and essential oils.

But then, life threw another curveball. While studying and raising her son, Kezia was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). โ€œThe diagnosis hit me hard,โ€ she admitted. โ€œI always thought of myself as healthy. This sort of thing happened to other people, not me.โ€

Determined to keep moving forward, she threw herself into holistic therapyโ€”not just as a career, but as a way to manage her own health. To future-proof her work, she built a salon in her garden, which became the foundation of Kelebek Holistic Therapies.

Navigating Introversion and Chronic Illness

As an introvert, Kezia found that her work provided a balance between solitude and connection. โ€œI built a salon in the garden so I could still work and feel as normal as possible,โ€ she explained. Her setup allowed her to adapt to her changing mobility while continuing to help others heal.

Outside of work, though, things were harder. โ€œI stopped venturing out, socializing less and less. I felt like a failure,โ€ she admitted. But through her work, she was able to maintain a sense of purpose and identity.

Honesty gave me strength.

The Power of Honesty and Self-Acceptance

For years, Kezia avoided talking about her condition. โ€œWhen youโ€™re diagnosed with a chronic condition, everyone seems to have remedies and cures,โ€ she said. โ€œI shrugged them off for just over 10 years.โ€

What changed? Sharing her story. โ€œOnly when I shared did I start coming to terms with the losses Iโ€™d dealt with. The loss of my real selfโ€”the happy, social meโ€”had been hidden away. Honesty gave me strength.โ€ That realization led her to write My Story, where she details her journey of resilience and healing.

Living the Dream, Her Way

For Kezia, the idea of a perfect dream life has evolved over time. โ€œI always thought the dream life was a little cottage, picket fence, a devoted husband, and 2.4 lovely children,โ€ she said. But life had other ideas.

Instead, her dream life looks like this: a semi-detached home filled with wildlife, a garden bursting with fruit trees, and an old man cat named Dora. A job she loves, working for a boss she gets along with (herself). And a life where her electric car runs on sunlight bouncing off her roof.

โ€œAs far as a perfect dream life is concerned, life is what you make it,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd Iโ€™m living the dream.โ€
