For Luveslyn Maule-Soleyn, accounting is far more than balance sheets and spreadsheets. Itโs about sustaining the lifelines that keep communities alive.
โIโm a nonprofit accountant with over 15 years of experience, and through Every Cent Counts, my aim is to serve mission-driven organizations, bringing clarity to their finances so they can focus on impact,โ she shares.
Born and raised in the Caribbean, where โpoverty was, and still is, a daily reality,โ Luveslyn has seen firsthand how vital nonprofit services are for resource-constrained communities. That experience shaped not just her career, but her calling. โThatโs why Iโm passionate about keeping these organizations open, compliant, and financially strong,โ she explains. โMy work is much more than numbers. It is about sustaining the lifelines that serve the most vulnerable. Every cent truly counts.โ
A Journey of Growth and Grit
Over her career, Luveslyn has built an impressive track record working with organizations of all sizes from small startups to established international nonprofits with annual revenues exceeding $100 million. โI place great value on the scope and depth of my experience as an operator in the professional nonprofit accounting space,โ she says.
One of her proudest milestones was leading a growing accounting team that expanded alongside the organizationโs needs with remarkably little turnover. โTwo persons leaving with tenures of three and seven years,โ she notes with pride.
Eventually, Luveslyn took a leap of faith stepping away from her full-time leadership role to grow her own firm. โTransitioning from a full-time leadership role to part-time project work while trying to grow my own firm was a leap of faith,โ she admits. โI am happy that I made the decision to do so, however, there are challenges I am still working through.โ
Quiet Confidence in a Noisy World
Luveslyn credits her introversion as both a grounding force and a guide in her work. โIntroversion helps me stay thoughtful and intentional in how I work and connect with others,โ she says. โI value depth over noise, and Iโm trying my best to build my business around meaningful relationships.โ
Still, itโs been a journey to find her voice especially after moving to the U.S. โAs a child and teen, I was brave in my own wayโฆ After moving to the U.S., I found myself quieter, unsure of how to speak up with so many other voices around me. Now, Iโm learning to be brave again, to show up, speak up, and make space for myself, even if itโs in my own quiet way.โ
Connection doesnโt have to be performative; it can be quiet, intentional, and still powerful.
Redefining Visibility for Introverts
When asked what advice sheโd give to other introverted women pursuing their dreams, Luveslyn offers wisdom earned through experience: โStart by being honest with yourself about what you want and how you work best. You donโt have to force yourself into someone elseโs mold to be successful.โ
But she also encourages quiet women not to disappear. โDonโt let introversion become an excuse to stay invisible,โ she says. โConnection doesnโt have to be performative; it can be quiet, intentional, and still powerful. Say hello. Follow up. Ask the question. You donโt have to do it like everyone else, but you should show up in a way that is comfortable for you.โ
Building a Life of Purpose
Today, Luveslyn is intentionally creating her dream life one project, one partnership, one purpose-driven decision at a time. โIโm choosing projects that align with my purpose, setting boundaries that support my priorities, and expanding my consulting practice with intention,โ she shares.
Her Caribbean roots continue to shape her approach to both life and leadership. โI carry with me a deep awareness of what it means to grow up in a place where resources are limited and community matters,โ she says. โThat perspective shapes how I plan to serve nonprofits and build my business, with empathy, strategy, and a commitment to impact.โ
