Shella Gardezi didnโt have to become the loudest voice in the room to make an impact. Instead, she used her gift for listening to build a career that helps others share their stories with clarity and purpose.
A former journalist turned PR and marketing specialist, Shella now runs Words Plus Design, a content marketing agency that supports mission-driven entrepreneurs. Her specialty is helping clients find the heart of their story and share it in a way that attracts meaningful publicity.
โI started in journalism, and people often assume you need to be pushy to succeed,โ she says. โBut I found that listening, observing, and creating space for people to talk was actually my strength.โ That natural communication style not only served her in journalism. It became her superpower in marketing.
A Thoughtful Approach to Brand Visibility
As an introvert, Shella has designed her business to reflect her values and energy. โMarketing strategists need to listen and observe in order to bring out the real messaging behind the business,โ she explains. When working with clients, she thrives on real-time connection, whether over Zoom or in person, using those conversations to uncover powerful insights.
Like many introverts, I love to write.
From there, she transitions into her favorite part which is writing. โLike many introverts, I love to write,โ she says. Her deep listening and careful observation translate into high-impact assets like press releases, pitches, bios, and brand backgrounders. Itโs a balance of quiet creativity and meaningful connection and Shellaโs clients love her for it.
One of the most important lessons sheโs learned along the way is that โEveryone has a story,โ she says. โEven if you think your business is โordinary,โ working with a PR strategist can help you create an unforgettable brand from the knowledge, expertise, and background you already have.โ
Building Her Dream Life with Purpose and Peace
For Shella, the dream life is already taking shape. โIโm doing work I love with amazing clients,โ she says. โWith a little more organization and time management, I think Iโd be right where I want to be.โ
Her ideal day would be mornings spent coaching clients who are eager to elevate their visibility, followed by afternoons writing and building the materials that bring their brand story to life. Evenings and weekends are for recharging in nature, exploring the cultural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and nurturing her creative spirit through reading and writing. โOne day, Iโd love to publish a book,โ she adds.
In a world that often celebrates the loudest voices, Shella Gardezi reminds us that the most impactful stories are often discovered through stillness, reflection, and intentional listening.
