Sabrina Rucker: Making Publishing Accessible for All

Meet Sabrina Rucker, the innovative founder and CEO of StoryForge, a platform that makes publishing a free online game. With a passion for supporting writers and a mission to make publishing more accessible, Sabrina is breaking down barriers in a notoriously tough industry.

From Frustration to Innovation

Sabrinaโ€™s journey to founding StoryForge started with her favorite book, Villains By Necessity by Eve Forward. โ€œItโ€™s a comedic fantasy about a group of villains who have to save the world from Good, which became too powerful,โ€ she shared. Inspired, Sabrina sought to adapt the book into a graphic novel, but after 19 failed attempts to get it published, she had enough. โ€œStoryForge was born from my intense frustration with a broken system and a desire to make publishing more accessible for everyone.โ€

Now, StoryForge empowers writers to share their work without the hefty costs of self-publishing or the high barriers of traditional publishing.

Introversion as a Strength

As an introvert, Sabrina has found unique ways to navigate the entrepreneurial world. โ€œI think I tend to focus on the hard parts, like the struggle to network and the dread of public speaking,โ€ she admitted. But her introversion has been a powerful asset, too.

โ€œOne thing Iโ€™ve never struggled with is sitting down and just deep-diving into research or a project. That comfort with myself has served me very well, especially in the earliest days of my business.โ€

Sabrinaโ€™s ability to work independently and channel her creativity has been key to her success. By leaning into what sheโ€™s naturally good at, sheโ€™s been able to build a platform that resonates with writers everywhere.

Playing to your strengths is a constant battle, but the effort is worthwhile.

A Different Kind of Loud

Sabrinaโ€™s biggest lesson is one every introvert can appreciate: thereโ€™s more than one way to be loud. โ€œWhile I dread standing in front of a crowd, Iโ€™ve found I really enjoy editing videos,โ€ she shared. Those videos allow her to reach thousands of people, all from the comfort of her quiet space. โ€œPlaying to your strengths is a constant battle, but the effort is worthwhile.โ€

Living the Dream

For Sabrina, the dream life is already here. โ€œSure, thereโ€™s always stuff Iโ€™d like to improve, but my work feels meaningful. It makes me happy,โ€ she said. The flexibility of running her own business gives her time to recharge and embrace her introverted side which is a balance she treasures.

What It Means to Be an Introverted DreamHer

Being an Introverted DreamHer means finding your voice, even if itโ€™s not the loudest in the room. Sabrinaโ€™s story shows that quiet determination and creativity can lead to big impact and meaningful success.
