Kerri Dixonโs journey from hobbyist to art coach is one of courage, community, and creativity. She is the founder of The Creative Barn, an online art membership with over 200 students worldwide. Kerri helps introverted artists overcome their fears and start creating stunning wildlife and nature art. Her story proves that stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to incredible growth and fulfillment.
From Tree Change to Global Community
Kerriโs career took a turn after a life change: selling her business, moving to a new town, and finding time to focus on her love of art. โArt has always been a hobby,โ she shared. โMost artists are introverted. We work solo and are in our own heads all the time.โ
When asked to hold a workshop in her new town, Kerri decided to embrace the challenge. โI was scared out of my brain,โ she admitted. A tip to create a detailed timeline for the class gave her the confidence to proceed, and limiting the workshop to six students made it manageable.
The success of that first workshop inspired her to launch The Creative Barn, a thriving community where artists learn, grow, and support each other.
Overcoming Introverted Challenges
As an introvert, being on camera didnโt come naturally to Kerri, but she tackled it head-on. โIt took me a while to get over being seen on camera, but itโs a crucial part of growing any online business,โ she explained. Preparation is key for her live broadcasts: plenty of notes, a good setup, and a polished appearance all help boost her confidence. โIโve learned to fight through the fear because it gets easier with every live I do,โ she said.
You have to fight the fear to see the growth.
Lessons in Growth
For Kerri, community is the cornerstone of growth. โMy art membership is full of introverted artists, but Iโve seen huge growth in them through constant encouragement,โ she shared. She pushes her students to step out of their comfort zones, encouraging them to enter local art competitions and attend opening events.
One studentโs journey stands out. โIt took her two years to get the courage to enter her local show, and she ended up winning first, second, and third prizes,โ Kerri said. โYou have to fight the fear to see the growth.โ
Living the Dream

Kerriโs dream life is already underway. โI live on a small farm surrounded by animals and have built an amazing community of like-minded women in my art membership,โ she said. Active in her local art scene, she continues to create and grow her business. Her next goal? Traveling the world to teach art retreats.
